Backbone Radio with Matt Dunn - April 2, 2017 - HR 1

Is the Deep State in Deep Trouble? What we're seeing right now in American politics -- all the chaos, negativity and outright insanity in the media -- might just be a necessary stage on the way. As in, we're seeing exactly what it's supposed to look like when an elected "outsider" jeopardizes the long-held power of the Establishment. President Trump has leverage on the Deep State, however, and he's using it, as the national conversation pivots from Russian "collusion" to Obama Administration "surveillance" of Trump. David Ignatius of the Washington Post remarks that Trump's "initially preposterous" tweets on wiretapping are now looking rather prescient. Former Obama official Evelyn Farkas has spilled the beans, Rep. Adam Schiff is in full retreat, and Rep. Devin Nunes hovers over the target. Meanwhile, Trump golfs with Sen. Rand Paul, calls out the House Freedom Caucus and presses ahead on the Neil Gorsuch SCOTUS nomination. John McCain and the Bushes complain. With Listener Calls & Music via Van Halen, Social Distortion, Reba McEntire and Clare Dunn. In Memoriam: Nascar Dennis, a long-time friend and soul brother of Backbone Radio.
